Paired Reading
What is it?
- Paired Reading is an enjoyable way of helping your children with their reading.
What to do?
- Choose a book that you want to read.
- Sit beside you helper.
- Begin reading together.
- When you want to read alone, give a signal to your helper.
- Your helper will give you five seconds before telling you a word you don’t know.
- After telling you a word you don’t know, your helper will start reading with you again.
- Your helper will not criticise your reading.
- Talk about what you have read.
- Make sure your Paired Reading Record is signed.
- Your target is to complete 4 reading sessions per week.
