Paired Reading 

What is it?

  • Paired Reading is an enjoyable way of helping your children with their reading.

What to do?

  1. Choose a book that you want to read.
  2. Sit beside you helper.
  3. Begin reading together.
  4. When you want to read alone, give a signal to your helper.
  5. Your helper will give you five seconds before telling you a word you don’t know.
  6. After telling you a word you don’t know, your helper will start reading with you again.
  7. Your helper will not criticise your reading.
  8. Talk about what you have read.
  9. Make sure your Paired Reading Record is signed.
  10. Your target is to complete 4 reading sessions per week.
